~ Nightmares and Dream adversaries ~

Nightmares

http://www.mindfears.com/?page_id=5
If a dream source is trying to get your attention, they may resort to shock tactics. Nightmares are usually aborted dreams where we did not get the full message. Nightmares are often recurring for this reason.

Being chased is a common theme – ask yourself, why am I running? What am I running from? What part of myself am I running from? The most important step when confronting the issue causing nightmares is to stay with the dream.

Here are some tips on staying with the dream.

1.       Dialogue with your fears.

Ask yourself – what is blocking me? Why am I afraid to finish the dream?

2.       Dialogue with the Dream adversary

Ask what is menacing you – who are you? What are you doing in my dreams? What are you trying to tell me?

3.       Rescript the role of your dream self.

Ask yourself what would happen if you changed you attitudes and actions in the dream?

4.       Dream the dream onward.

Imagine the dream unfolding beyond your waking point.  You may be able to change the outcome by calling on guides. Often you need to take action in outer reality as well as your dreamscape.

5.       Invoke allies – ask for help!

You may discover dream adversaries are actually your dream guides.

Dealing with Dream adversaries

·         Confront them, don’t run away

·         If we run from a scary dream, we need to learn to go back inside it and face up to our fears

·         Its ok to call for help to do this

·         When we overcome dream adversaries, they become friends and helpers.

~ Dream Incubation ~

·         When you have an important, pressing question that requires guidance
·         Intention matters more than ritual -
·         The guidance will come that night or soon after.

What you need to do is

a)      Formulate your question or request clearly

b)      Clear your channels – lay off caffeine, alcohol and drugs before bed

c)     Agree to accept and work with the  dreams given to you

Practical Exercise

1.       State your intention clearly

You could start by asking to improve dream recall. Whatever the question, it should be something important to you.  The question should be positive, life affirming and open-ended. For example, “Help me unlock my full creative energy” or “how should I handle the job interview”

2.     Write down your question or request.

Remind yourself of it throughout the day. When you go to bed, write it on a piece of paper and put it under your pillow – perhaps with a crystal or dream pillow!

3.     Record your dreams and explore how they might answer your question.

You may not see the connection at first glance. If you fail to catch the dream, write down the first thing you think of when you wake up.

Be alert for synchronicity – any events in waking life that might give you clues to your dream or an answer to your question.

4.     Remember the dream source is wiser than the ego!

You have invited your higher self to help you straighten out your affairs or give you advice on them. Be prepared to be pointed in a different direction altogether, or that your goals are wrong!

~ Using Crystals for Dreaming ~

The information for this picture is taken from http://www.energy-healing-info.com/crystal-healing-dreams.html. I don't really like cut n pasting... so I will edit the below information eventually in my own words, but I have posted it here so you can read more info about the picture above in the meantime :)

DREAM STONES

Amethyst for Dream Recall: A crown chakra crystal (7th chakra) that brings a connection to higher divinity. This stone is useful for dream recall. It will also promote peaceful sleep and serenity. It deepens meditations and will aid in deepening dreams as well. It will aid in insomnia.

Ametrine for Dream Wisdom: A crown chakra crystal (7th Chakra). Ametrine is a natural blend of Amethyst and Citrine inclusions. Ametrine will aid you in accessing your higher wisdom in the dream realms.

Azurite for Accessing Intuition through Dreams: A third eye chakra crystal (6th Chakra).Azurite heightens psychic awareness and intuition. It will aid you in opening up to the intuitive potentials of your dreams. This is an excellent stone for use with dream work, and is recommended as one of the top stones to choose if you don't already have one picked out.

Clear Quartz for Amplifying Dreams: All seven chakras. Clear quartz is an amplifier. It is especially beneficial for use in dream work to amplify the vividity of your dreams and the recollection of your dreams upon awakening. Clear quartz is easily programmed for any purpose, and can be programmed to work as a dream stone.

Lepidolite for Nightmares and Insomnia: Crown Chakra (7th Chakra). Lepidolite is a calming crystal. It contains the natural substance lithium which has been used by modern science to calm agitated individuals. You can access the calming effects of lithium without resorting to prescription drugs simply by keeping lepidolite in your home or on your body. Lepidolite is useful for people with bad dreams, interrupted sleep patterns, anxiety or insomnia. Often times these three factors will keep a person from having good dream recall. If you frequently experience any of these three factors, consider Lepidolite for your dreamwork.

Moldavite for Transformative Dream Work: All seven chakras. Moldavite is a powerful stone of transformation. If you are wanting to do some serious dreamwork, use moldavite in conjunction with any of the stones listed above. Moldavite can change your life, by working with it in your dreamwork, it will help you to facilitate faster growth in any area you are focused on, whether dream recall, lucid dreaming, or astral travel.

PROGRAM A CRYSTAL FOR DREAM INTUITIONS

If you feel like it, program the stone to your specific request before using it. Visit the programming your crystal page for a detailed how-to list on programming a sto
ne. A condensed version focused on programming a stone for dream recall, astral travel, and lucid dreaming is here. Clear the crystal of previous programming or old energies. This can be done by cleansing the crystal thoroughly. If you are short on time, and the crystal has been cleansed recently, simply hold it under running water for a few minutes and ask your higher spirit and angel guides to clear the old programming out of the stone.

First, cleanse your crystal. This can be accomplished by holding it under running water for a few moments as a quick and easy method, or for a more intensive cleansing leave it outside in a bowl of water overnight. Once your chosen dream crystal has been cleansed, meditate with the stone in your hands. It is beneficial to create a calm, serene environment while you are doing this. Some ideas are burning candles or incense, playing a cd of new age music, and smudging your home with sage. Whatever you find peaceful, just make sure you are in a calm, focused state before beginning the programming process. Hold the crystal in your hands and gaze upon it.

As you gaze at the stone, visualize yourself sleeping comfortably in your bed. Envision a soothing blue light encircling you and your entire bed. The blue light is a portal to the dream world. Envision your stone tucked under your pillow or mattress, or sitting on top of your nightstand. The stone is circled in the blue light also. The blue light dream portal is now open to you. With the assistance of your stone, you can travel through the dream portal to the dream world. You can easily pass back and forth, remembering details of this plane and the dream plane.

Now ask your stone to aid you in your dreaming. Ask for increased dream recall, lucid dreaming, astral travel, and guidance in your dreams. Thank your stone for undertaking the task of dream guardian for you. The stone will keep you safe in the dream realms, moving towards your highest purpose, and the knowledge that your higher self wants to share with you.

Seal the intention into your crystal by envisioning a white light surrounding the stone, and emanating from within it. The new vibrations are now stored in the crystal. The dream program will stay until you clear the crystal again.

Every night before you fall asleep, hold the dream stone in your left hand (the left hand is for receiving energies, the right hand is for sending energies) and thank it for aiding you. Say, "Thank you for helping me to remember my dreams tonight. Thank you for helping me receive guidance from my spirit guides in my dreams tonight. Thank you for helping me receive guidance regarding (insert any special issue you are trying to resolve) in my dreams tonight." Hold the dream stone to your third eye for a minute and concentrate your energies on the third eye. Meditate on the energies of your stone. Then place your dream stone near your bed. Common places are under your pillow, under your mattress, under your bed, or on your night stand.

Note: Say the thank you's out loud. There is more power in the human voice than is currently recognized by modern science. Intoning the words starts a vibration that penetrates through to the spirit world. Another tip is to always use a positive affirmation. Instead of saying "Thank you for taking away my bad dreams". "Say Thank you for bringing me joyful dreams tonight."

CRYSTAL UNDER PILLOW: BASIC DREAM TECHNIQUE

This is for all of you who want the quick and easy answer of how to aid dream recall, depth of dreams, and lucid dreaming. Take a stone you are drawn to and ask it to aid your visions and recall. Place the stone under your pillow and see what happens!

Every night before you go to bed, hold the stone in your left hand and ask it to bring you dreams that will help you discover your higher path in life or that clarify whatever issue is most at hand in your life. For example, if you are confused about a work situation, ask the stone and your spirit guides to bring you a dream that will clarify the path of highest good. If you are worried about disagreements with a loved one, ask the stone and your spirit guides to bring you a dream that will clarify the best direction to take for harmony with your loved one.

These are just examples, focus on the most pressing issue in your life that you want guidance on. Simply ask for clarity from your spirit guides, angel guides, animal totems, Jesus, Buddha, whomever it is that you personally choose to work with. The stone will act as a conduit to bring their higher wisdoms to you. You can use any stone for this exercise. Several good ones are clear quartz, amethyst, azurite, sodalite, moldavite, and zincite.

How to Make a Dream Pillow

 Image copyright: © OnceUponASilverMoon 2013
How to Make a Dream Pillow
- Scented pillows or sachets to place under your pillow at night - to enhance and remember your dreams

... You can buy a scented comfort pillow online, or make your own - it's pretty easy to do. Here is a list of things you'll need:

• A mesh bag
• A piece of string
• A few aromatherapy herbs
• A few drops of essential oils
• Orris root to retain the scents
• A pillow case / some fabric
• A needle and thread
• Pillow stuffing
• A piece of velcro

Step #1 - Choose a small pillow case that you want to make into your dream pillow. Alternatively, find some silk material and cut it into two rectangles about 6 by 11 inches (to form the top and bottom of your scented pillow).

Step #2 - With the two pieces of fabric back to back, stitch three sides together. Then turn the pocket inside out so the silky side is now outside. All the stitching is now nice and neat on the inside of the cushion.

Step #3 - Fill your mesh bag with dried aromatherapy herbs and flowers. I've written some suggested combinations below. For lucid dreams, add a few drops of select aromatherapy essential oils (see below).

Step #4 - Add two teaspoons of orris root to your mesh bag as a fixative, to make the scents last longer. Then tie the bag off with string.

Step #5 - Slide the herb mesh bag into your pillow and pack the stuffing around it. Be careful not to over-pack the pillow case so the scents can still breathe. Stitch up the open edge or attach velcro so that you can replace the herbs and scents over time (this also makes your dream pillow easily washable).

What to Put in a Dream Pillow
* To induce calm and relaxation (good for stopping night terrors, excessive sleep talking and other stress-related sleep disorders) - use the well-known scents of Lavender and Chamomile.

* To invoke feelings of comfort and reassurance (if you're away traveling or just moved into a new home) - use a combination of Passionflower, Rose, Clary Sage, Marjoram, Geranium and Ylang.

* To inspire vivid and creative dreams - use a combination of Rose petals, Mugwort, Hops, Lemon Verbena, Lemongrass, Jasmine, Mimosa, Mint, Cloves, Orange peel and Marjoram.

* To help promote lucid dreams - use a combination of the essential oils Clove, Mugwort, Anise and Clary Sage in your scent pillow. Another good combination for your lucid dream pillow is: Rose, Helichrysum, Sandalwood, Palo Santo and Patchouli.

~ Paganesque Dream Series ~ Dreaming 101 ~

In your dreams...  The Dream Journal

You don't need to be a dream expert to start analysing your dreams, delving into your own inner mysteries... all you need is paper and a pen :)
Start tomorrow. The next day.. as soon as you wake up (easier for some than others!). Write down anything you remember from your dreams the night before. Even if they are only fragments... you will find that the more you do it, the easier it will be to remember.

http://palnk.deviantart.com/art/Dreams-Dreams-145627115
As you write, use the present tense. Use the date from the day before and give your dream a title. This can be very interesting when you read through the index you write at the back of the book! Also try writing on every second page, so that you can scribble notes that you find relevant to your dream, on the same 'page'.

You can use any type of book you want to write your dream journal. I use one that is lined on one side and blank on the other. The blank page is good for drawing pictures, dream maps, dreamscapes and random scribble as you read, re read and read your dreams again. You are also better off writing in your journal - its more personal than a computer program.

In the back of the book, you should start an index, with the date (of the night you had the dream), the Dream Title, and the pages it is on - which means you will need to number your pages!

Frankie Lynn Emporium

The benefits of a dream journal:
 * It helps you to recall and remember your dreams
 * You can find patterns in your dreams - and will start to notice particular dreamscapes
 * It will help you make your own dream dictionary
 * Can be used for inspiration - for creative writing - stories, poetry.. even spells!
 * You might find answers to those peculiar Deja Vu situations
 * Could also provide examples or clues to dream divination (Now when/where did I dream that before?)

Tips on using your Dream Journal

1. Choose the right book – write your dreams on the right page (or even pages) of the book and keep the other side (odd pages) for drawing maps, notes and associations.

2. Keep your journal private – in a safe place under lock and key! You need to feel free to write whatever you want in there

3. Make a date with your journal – closest to first thing in the morning is the best, while your dream is still fresh.

4. Date your reports – the exact time you wake up could be significant to world events, friends dreams or situations inspired by synchronicity.

5. Give your dreams titles – use the first thing that comes to mind – can provide interesting perspectives on the dream, and allows you to watch for running themes.

6. Note your feelings and immediate sensations or associations – if you think a dream is about someone in particular, but they do not appear in the dream, write that down! It may make more sense later. Also take note of significant events or what occupied your mind the day before – your dream might have been a clue of what was to come or an answer to a problem

7. Index your dreams – this helps you find that dream quickly and also helps to track running themes, or when certain dreams are likely to occur.

8. Note recurring themes and locales – are you always visiting the same places in your

chikilin_eaaa/51337407/
dreams (Dreamscapes) or doing the same thing in your dreams.. eg catching a train or flying?

9. Log correspondences between dreams and waking events – go back through your journals every once in a while and see if your dreams are foreshadowing future events. You could add clippings, letters or mementos to your journal.

10. Note overlaps between your dreams and those of other people. Your dream might hold the key to the interpretation of someone else’s. You may even identify interactive dreams you share with someone or a common dreamscape.

11. Have fun! Decorate your journal. Love your Journal. Add drawings, pictures, photos, postcards and sayings or poetry that evoke dreams or reflect your moods. Track your dreams with dream dictionaries of symbols. You could try using your dreams to write stories, or try recasting them as poetry. Don’t let your inner critics stop you while you do this
