~ The Empress ~

~ Card of the Day ~

THE EMPRESS, Deviant Moon Tarot

"Now look what you've done, your Mother's upset!"
(Chopper ;p)...

The Deviant Moon Tarot is great for showing us what we don't really want to see. And today's card is The Empress - our Mother archetype. It also represents creativity and fertility.

But what is happening here? This isn't the flowery goddess of many Empress Tarot cards, this Mother is old, ragged, humbled and strong. What is the deviant tarot telling you?

Her breasts are open, exposed like animal teats - there is nothing of herself left for herself.. she has been sucked dry by others. She looks exhausted, how much more can she bear, hanging on out of duty and expectations? She may have addictions, be an alcoholic or suffer from depression - where she just can't 'mother' her children or project.

She is draped in purple and wears a blue hat - to me, this splash of colour in a bleak world points to her spirituality, intellect and sense of self. She is the wise woman - she has been through hell and back and she knows she can tackle anything. Even motherhood.

This image of mother can be confronting. Where has your mother failed, or where do you feel like you have failed at mothering, or giving birth to something? This card is telling us to take time out for ourselves, see the frailness of ourselves and our mothers, and even mother earth. We depend on our Mothers, we have them on pedestals, and then when they become human again, we are left wondering, huh? Our mother's frailties can be unsettling, opening nerves and testing the waters.

This card is also one of creativity and fertility. It tells me that the ideas, passion and love are there, but we aren't using our inner power, we aren't effectively mobilising our awesomeness. Take some time to reconnect with Mother Earth to get the creative juices flowing again

Hope you are having a great day :)
