How to Make a Dream Pillow
- Scented pillows or sachets to place under your pillow at night - to enhance and remember your dreams

... You can buy a scented comfort pillow online, or make your own - it's pretty easy to do. Here is a list of things you'll need:

• A mesh bag
• A piece of string
• A few aromatherapy herbs
• A few drops of essential oils
• Orris root to retain the scents
• A pillow case / some fabric
• A needle and thread
• Pillow stuffing
• A piece of velcro

Step #1 - Choose a small pillow case that you want to make into your dream pillow. Alternatively, find some silk material and cut it into two rectangles about 6 by 11 inches (to form the top and bottom of your scented pillow).

Step #2 - With the two pieces of fabric back to back, stitch three sides together. Then turn the pocket inside out so the silky side is now outside. All the stitching is now nice and neat on the inside of the cushion.

Step #3 - Fill your mesh bag with dried aromatherapy herbs and flowers. I've written some suggested combinations below. For lucid dreams, add a few drops of select aromatherapy essential oils (see below).

Step #4 - Add two teaspoons of orris root to your mesh bag as a fixative, to make the scents last longer. Then tie the bag off with string.

Step #5 - Slide the herb mesh bag into your pillow and pack the stuffing around it. Be careful not to over-pack the pillow case so the scents can still breathe. Stitch up the open edge or attach velcro so that you can replace the herbs and scents over time (this also makes your dream pillow easily washable).

What to Put in a Dream Pillow
* To induce calm and relaxation (good for stopping night terrors, excessive sleep talking and other stress-related sleep disorders) - use the well-known scents of Lavender and Chamomile.

* To invoke feelings of comfort and reassurance (if you're away traveling or just moved into a new home) - use a combination of Passionflower, Rose, Clary Sage, Marjoram, Geranium and Ylang.

* To inspire vivid and creative dreams - use a combination of Rose petals, Mugwort, Hops, Lemon Verbena, Lemongrass, Jasmine, Mimosa, Mint, Cloves, Orange peel and Marjoram.

* To help promote lucid dreams - use a combination of the essential oils Clove, Mugwort, Anise and Clary Sage in your scent pillow. Another good combination for your lucid dream pillow is: Rose, Helichrysum, Sandalwood, Palo Santo and Patchouli.
